Flange Specifications and Standards (ANSI, JIS, DIN, GB)

When talking about flanges, in addition to connecting or sealing pipes, when using pumps, flanges are also mainly used for connection. After understanding the basic types of flanges, sealing surface forms and applications, the standard classification of flanges, their ability to withstand pressure, the thickness of the flange surface, and applicable countries, etc., also need to be paid attention to when selecting.

What Are the Applicable Standards for Flanges?

Common flange standards include ANSI (American standard), DIN (German standard), JIS (Japanese standard), and GB (national standard). ANSI is a commonly used standard in the Americas, DIN is a commonly used standard in Europe, JIS is a commonly used standard in Japan, and GB is a commonly used standard in China. The main international flange standards are ANSI and DIN, but the flange connection sizes of these two standards are completely different and cannot match each other.

1. ANSI Standard

Commonly used pressure levels: 150 LB, 300 LB, 400 LB, 600 LB, 900 LB, 1500 LB and 2500 LB
Flange forms: sliding flange, butt welding flange, threaded flange, loose flange, Socket welding flange, blind flange
Flange sealing surface: flat surface, raised surface, concave and convex surface, tongue and groove surface, ring connection surface

2. DIN Standard

Commonly used pressure levels: PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN64, PN100, PN160, PN250, PN320, PN400
Flange forms: sliding flange, butt welding flange, threaded flange, loose flange,  blind flange
Flange sealing surface: raised surface, concave and convex surface, tongue and groove surface, ring connection surface

3. JIS Standard

Commonly used pressure levels: 5K, 10K, 16K, 20K, 30K, 40K, 63K (K is the pressure level used in Japan.)
Flange forms: sliding flange, butt welding flange, threaded flange, loose sleeve Flange, socket welding flange, blind flange
Flange sealing surface: flat surface, concave and convex surface, tongue and groove surface

4. GB Standard

Commonly used pressure levels:
PN1.0, PN1.6, PN2.0, PN5.0, PN10.0, PN15.0, PN25.0, PN42.0
PN0.25, PN0.6, PN2.5, PN4.0

American flange system: PN 2.0, PN 5.0, PN 10.0, PN 15.0, PN 25.0, PN 42.0
Flange forms: sliding flange, butt welding flange, threaded flange, loose flange, socket Welding flange, blind flange
Flange sealing surface: flat surface, raised surface, concave and convex surface, tongue and groove surface, ring connection surface

The above are the basic flange specification standards. When considering the flange to be installed with the pump, it is recommended to consult with professionals before making the selection. PTCXPUMP acid and alkali resistant sealless magnetic pump, the flange provides general specifications (ANSI, JIS, DIN) and adopts three One-piece movable flange design allowing you to adjust the position of the flange screw holes during piping installation to avoid leakage at the entrance and exit.
